Traveler Reviews CASA ROVAI

USA Beilan (2009-07-07 10:29:08)
The Casa Rovai is a B & B conveniently located in Florence. Its moderately priced, and good value for the money. The place is run by Arianna, who we found very helpful, and who went out of her way to make arrangements for us for various museums, call taxi service for us upon departure, and ensure our stay was a pleasant one. The Casa is on the first floor, no lift, and a set of keys is given to you upon check in. There is a sparkling water tap near the door that is free to use anytime day or night; we filled our plastic bottles before leaving to explore for the day, and filled the pitcher each evening. The breakfasts are filling; and include yogurt, cereal, various fruits, coffee and tea, cheese and salami, bread, and cookies and cake. Our room was clean, large, and its ceiling had a fresco painting. The room and bathroom were cleaned daily, and hot water was instant. Free internet was available in the dining area, but wifi was also available in our room for our small notebook computer. TV was in the room, as was a small writing desk. The local bus station was nearby, although we found walking everywhere not too taxing. There are lots of local restaurants and bars nearby, as well as self-service laundromats, markets and a post office. We would definitely recommend Casa Rovai to all.

Perfect location in the heart of Florence. We walked to all the major attrations, Accademia, Uffizi, Catherdral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, & the largest jewish synagogue in Italy, and others. This is in a charming old building. We did have to walk up 2 flights of stairs to enter the guest house rooms, so this place is not wheelchair accessible or for anyone who can't negotiate the stairs. However, Florence is not a city easily accessible as well. We were 6 people from 3 different families traveling from NY & Chicago. We had the triple room & the suite which had a double & a single with an adjoining door. The rooms were very large, very clean, and very charming. The dining room was roomy & had 2 computers for the teenagers we traveled with to use. The breakfast was the standard Italian continental breakfast. The best part was the innkeepper, She reserved the admissions to the museums with a phone call. We arrived at the museums with no wait at all. We just walked to the front of the line. She gave us street maps that were invaluable to know where we were. The innkeeper also arranged taxis for us to visit friends we had outside of the city & taxis for us to go back to the airport at 5:00am. We will definitely stay here again if we have the privilege to travel to Florence again.

We were splendidly impressed with your hospitality when we inquired at your quaint B&B from the starts. And even more impressed upon our arrival and throughout our stay. The breakfasts were an enjoyable start to our days touring your beautiful city. We especially loved the spresso and cakes! And the rooms were very comfortable and well kept! A special grazie to Beatrice in making this a warm and welcome home for us. And grazie to Arianna for her generosity and hospitality! Aloha, Eddie and Kris, New York Richard and Rowence, Hawaii

We were in Florence for four nights and had hoped to stay at Casa Rovai the entire time, but unfortunately they only had a room available for the first four nights. However, Arianna found us another perfectly acceptable room nearby. I found Casa Rovai level of service extraordinary even by B&B standards; excellent recommendations on places to eat, dinner reservations made for us, even after we had moved to our second B&B (no English spoken there so the owner couldn't help), museum reservations made with good advice on which ones needed it and for which ones it would have been a waste of money, taxi reservation made for our early morning run to the airport. In addition, the entire place was quite clean, quietly elegant, and also extremely quiet - no street noise at all. Not all staff speak English, but they have a system where they call someone who can and then hand you the telephone. Breakfast had lots of choices. This is one of the few places I have ever stayed where on a return trip I would adjust my trip schedule if necessary to be sure I could stay at Casa Rovai.
